Why it Works

Our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) involves all students working one day per week at partner companies to fund half their tuition and gain relevant and meaningful work skill training. While working in entry-level positions, students acquire desirable job experience and marketable skills, and also graduate high school with an impressive resume and exposure to a wide variety of careers.
This all helps to create a pipeline of talent for future employers. CWSP prepares students from diverse backgrounds for industries that are increasingly seeking more diversity; 98% of Cristo Rey students are students of color.

A Georgetown University study from 2010 estimated that 65% of all US jobs would require some form of postsecondary education by 2020. Currently, 75% of our graduates have either earned a degree or on track to do so. These graduates will join the workforce and fill positions as educated, informed workers.

Business leaders nation-wide recognize and are responding to the imperative to have an actionable social purpose for their organizations. Cristo Rey Network’s Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) offers complementary efforts towards our mutually desired outcomes.

Without intentional investments in people and communities of color, and the organizations that work to address the removal of systemic barriers, real change will remain out of reach.
