Why it Works

Our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) involves all students working one day per week at partner companies to fund half their tuition and gain relevant and meaningful work skill training. While working in entry-level positions, students acquire desirable job experience and marketable skills, and also graduate high school with an impressive resume and exposure to a wide variety of careers.
This all helps to create a pipeline of talent for future employers. CWSP prepares students from diverse backgrounds for industries that are increasingly seeking more diversity; 99% of Cristo Rey students are students of color.
A Georgetown University study from 2010 estimated that 65% of all US jobs would require some form of postsecondary education by 2020. Currently, 75% of our graduates have either earned a degree or on track to do so. These graduates will join the workforce and fill positions as educated, informed workers.
  • Make a difference in the local community and significantly impact a young person’s life.
  • Meet your diversity objectives now and improve them by exposing Cristo Rey student workers to your field of work.
  • Build morale in the workplace and attract the new generation of employees who are looking for socially responsible employers.
  • Receive exceptional value of work performed by previously trained students.
  • Do not worry about permanent commitment, as students are employees of CWSP, not the client companies.
  • Receive hassle free payroll, I-9, Workers’ Compensation, FICA, FUTA and other employer issues because it is handled by the CWSP staff.
  • Attract Cristo Rey Network alumni by being a Cristo Rey friendly company.

  • Students fund half the cost of their college-prep education while acquiring excellent work experience and marketable job skills.
  • They learn to take responsibility and grow in self-respect.
  • They are able to explore their interests and discover real possibilities for adulthood, college, and careers.
  • They become comfortable in a corporate work environment and graduate with great resumes.
