The Cristo Rey Community Mourns the Loss of Graduate David Ramos

David graduated in June 2020. A leader at work, in the classroom, and on the soccer field, he was a positive, bright light in our community. David was goal-orientated, funny, and had one of the most caring hearts that we have seen. He will be dearly missed by the entire Cristo Rey Jesuit family.

‘A ray of hope’: As neighborhood rebuilds, south Minneapolis high school celebrates its seniors

The school hosted a drive-thru, socially distanced graduation ceremony for its 124 seniors, with faculty and staff saluting their students' accomplishments from a perch atop the building. It was a welcome afternoon of hope, celebration and looking to the future, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and just days after looting and fires destroyed nearby businesses in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd.

When a pandemic closed schools back in March, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School’s 124 seniors didn’t know what spring would bring. Then came the destruction and strife just doors away. Out from the grips of chaos and upheaval sprang creativity. On Saturday, each graduating senior was honored at a drive-thru commencement ceremony.
