The Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton, Ph.D., S.T.D., Bishop of Belleville, Illinois will give an address to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School on Friday, February 3rd, at 8:00 AM, in the School Auditorium. The Bishop’s address will examine key elements contributing to the racial divide in the United States and the emergence of the Black Lives Matter Movement from the perspective of the Catholic Church.
Beginning with our inaugural graduating class in 2011, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota has conducted on-site interviews for admission every year at Cristo Rey Jesuit. This has become an exciting tradition, and this year, Saint Mary's University accepted the most Cristo Rey seniors on-site ever: 20! Victor Guaman, senior and Lazard Middle Market employee, was so excited. "I didn't think I could feel this happy. I can't stop smiling!"
Cristo Rey students had the opportunity to meet Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor at a recent event entitled "The Latino Legal Experience in Minnesota." Jennifer Tigre, Daniela Garibay and Noemi Salas got to be on stage with Justice Sotomayor because they took part in a contest describing what it's like growing up as a Latino in Minnesota. "She just made me realize that you can make it, that she's an example of it and you can achieve," said Jennifer Tigre. "Her whole thing was based on education; she put so much effort into it."
