Seniors are busy making their college decisions. Ashley Bracamontes has visited five different schools in order to find her ideal fit. Saint Michael's College (VT) was her favorite of all the schools visited and the furthest from home. The school flew in Ashley and three other Cristo Rey seniors for a two-day program, where they spent the night in dorm rooms, toured the facilities and attended a major fair. It was there that she realized "going to a school far away gives you an opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to become familiar with a new place and new people. But it’s also scary because this could be the furthest and longest I might be away from my family and friends."
Bracamontes' goal is to become a high school teacher. She will be the first in her family to attend college and is grateful she had the opportunity to tour so many institutions. “It opened up my mind about the fact that I don’t have to go to a school so close to home. I know I have those options, but now I know there are others that could be a good fit for me. Before I visited these schools, I was only thinking about Minnesota schools.”
