Program Details

The Hire4Ed program provides students with "real-world" work experience through its work-study program. Four students share one full-time job, with each student working five full days per month. They are transported to and from work each day, and work standard daily business hours, usually about 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Daria, a sophomore at Cristo Rey, meets with mentor Bob Hobbins, a partner at the law firm of Dorsey and Whitney, LLP.

The program follows the school year, running annually from Labor Day through the third week of June, and corporate sponsors often choose to continue students' employment through the summer months.

Students benefit from Hire4Ed in the following ways:

  • Specialized academic scheduling enables students to work without ever missing class.
  • Students assign their earnings to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School to pay for over 70% of the cost of their education.
  • Students receive a college prep education while acquiring excellent work experience and marketable job skills.
  • Students learn to take responsibility and grow in self-respect.
  • Students are able to learn about their interests and discover real possibilities for adulthood, college, and careers.
