Students learn valuable job skills by working five days a month.
Cristo Rey allows students who cannot afford to get a college preparatory education to do so through its unique work-study program. This Hire4Ed program eases the burden of enrollment cost and exposes the student to a real-life work environment that broadens his or her horizons and encourages each of them to set high goals for themselves.
The program also motivates the company that hires these students. Mentors play an active role in helping their student workers prepare for the future – instilling a work ethic and sharing their expertise.
In schools across the national Cristo Rey Network, corporate clients continuously renew their commitments because the program gives employees a chance to interact with a student, help shape his or her future, and make a real difference. Often, the mentor and student form a lasting, mutually beneficial professional relationship.
